Vikram Solar, one of India's leading domestic solar module manufacturers, has secured an order to supply 124 megawatts of solar photovoltaic modules to Capital Energy for a utility-scale solar project in Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh. The order covers Vikram Solar's G12R TOPCon module range, with individual module capacities ranging from 620 to 630 watt-peak, reflecting the continued shift within India's solar manufacturing industry toward higher-efficiency TOPCon, or tunnel oxide passivated contact, cell technology over older-generation PERC modules as developers seek to maximise energy yield per unit of installed land area.

The deal adds to a steady stream of domestic module supply agreements struck across India's solar sector in recent months, as the country's utility-scale renewable energy pipeline continues to expand in pursuit of the government's target of 500 gigawatts of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. Andhra Pradesh has emerged as one of India's most active states for utility-scale solar development, benefiting from favourable land availability, strong solar irradiance and supportive state-level policy frameworks that have attracted a growing roster of independent power producers and renewable energy developers to the region.

For Vikram Solar, the order reinforces the company's position within India's increasingly competitive domestic module manufacturing landscape, one that has been reshaped significantly by the government's production-linked incentive scheme and a broader policy push toward reducing reliance on imported solar equipment, historically dominated by Chinese manufacturers. As Indian module makers scale up domestic gigawatt-level manufacturing capacity, orders of this size from independent power producers like Capital Energy serve as important commercial validation of both the quality and cost-competitiveness of homegrown module technology relative to international alternatives.

The transaction also illustrates the broader momentum building across India's solar supply chain, where rising module manufacturing capacity is beginning to translate into a deeper, more liquid domestic market for utility-scale procurement.
