Cars24 Spins Out Deployment Inc With $5 Million Bet, Turning Internal AI Playbook Into an Enterprise Business

Cars24 has launched Deployment Inc, an independent enterprise artificial intelligence company built directly on the automation playbook the used-car marketplace developed for its own operations, with an initial $5 million investment and a mandate to help other large organisations move AI systems out of pilot mode and into the centre of critical business workflows. Cars24 will be Deployment Inc's first customer, even as the new venture is structured and staffed to operate independently and sell to enterprises well beyond its parent.

The rationale traces directly back to what Cars24 has already built internally. AI agents developed inside the company now handle more than one million minutes of customer conversations every month. Service-request turnaround time has fallen from 32 hours to 30 minutes. Inspection time has been halved across more than 100,000 monthly vehicle inspections, and the same engineering team is now producing roughly three times the output it did before. More than 45 distinct AI agents currently operate across Cars24's customer support, sales, financing, inspections, payments and internal operations functions — the operational base that Deployment Inc is now packaging for external enterprises.

"Every enterprise will soon have access to powerful AI models. The scarce capability will be knowing how to turn them into systems that customers and employees can depend on," said Vikram Chopra, Founder of Cars24, explaining the logic behind the spin-out. "I have watched Jayesh and his team build that capability inside Cars24 in workflows where the customer is waiting and the result cannot be hidden. Aayush brings the research depth required to keep that execution at the frontier. We are investing $5 million because we believe they can build the team enterprises trust with their most important operations."

Deployment Inc will be led by Jayesh Gupta, the Cars24 executive who built much of the company's internal AI operating model, alongside Aayush Gupta, a former backend engineering specialist at xAI who brings deep research experience to the venture. "Every new model resets what is possible. It should not force an enterprise to reset its AI strategy," said Jayesh Gupta, Co-founder of Deployment Inc. "We are building the engineering and operating capacity that allows companies to absorb the frontier continuously." The company plans to hire around 50 engineers along with AI strategy and go-to-market professionals as it begins onboarding enterprise clients across financial services, consumer businesses, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics and technology.

Central to Deployment Inc's pitch is a workforce model built around what the company calls forward-deployed engineers, or FDEs — technical staff who work embedded inside a client's business rather than delivering software off the shelf and walking away. The approach is a direct response to a problem Cars24's founders say they observed repeatedly: enterprises often need to coordinate multiple consultants, technology vendors, software providers and internal teams simultaneously just to get a single AI workflow into production, a fragmented process that frequently stalls before it delivers measurable results.

Deployment Inc's launch is not an isolated move. Inc42 reported in June that Cars24 had committed $20 million toward a separate initiative, AI Labs, aimed at incubating and investing in early-stage AI startups, in partnership with OpenAI, ElevenLabs and AWS. Taken together with Deployment Inc, the moves suggest Cars24 is pursuing a deliberate, multi-pronged AI strategy rather than treating artificial intelligence purely as an internal efficiency tool. The company has separately expanded its own collaboration with OpenAI, reporting a 50% improvement in support resolution and an 80% reduction in turnaround time across key service workflows as a result of embedding OpenAI's enterprise models directly into its vehicle discovery, financing and customer support systems.

The launch places Cars24 alongside a small but growing group of Indian consumer platforms — including Zomato parent Eternal, whose Nugget venture has followed a similar internal-tool-to-external-product trajectory — that are betting their operational AI experience can become a standalone revenue line in its own right. For Deployment Inc, the production environment it inherits from Cars24's own business gives it something many AI startups lack at launch: a live, high-volume enterprise workflow it has already proven can run reliably before a single external customer signs on. Whether that head start translates into a durable enterprise AI business, competing against both dedicated AI-native startups and the hyperscalers' own enterprise offerings, will become clearer as Deployment Inc begins signing clients outside the Cars24 ecosystem over the coming quarters.

The competitive landscape Deployment Inc is entering is crowded but young enough that no clear category leader has emerged in India specifically. Global system integrators and consulting firms have long offered AI implementation services, but typically at a scale and cost structure suited to the largest enterprises; a wave of AI-native startups, meanwhile, tend to sell narrow point solutions rather than the kind of end-to-end, embedded operating capability Deployment Inc is proposing. By positioning its forward-deployed engineers as an extension of a client's own team rather than an external vendor relationship, the company is effectively betting that the operational discipline built inside a high-volume consumer business — where AI failures are immediately visible to paying customers — is a harder, more defensible capability to replicate than the underlying AI models themselves, which are increasingly commoditised and available to any enterprise willing to pay for API access.
