Graph AI has raised $13.3 million in a Series A round led by Insight Partners, with existing investor Bessemer Venture Partners also participating in the round. The company builds artificial intelligence software designed to automate pharmaceutical patient-safety case processing, a heavily regulated and traditionally labour-intensive function within pharmaceutical companies that involves collecting, reviewing and reporting adverse event data associated with drug safety monitoring, a process that regulatory authorities across major pharmaceutical markets require companies to perform continuously throughout a drug's commercial lifecycle.
Patient-safety case processing, formally known as pharmacovigilance, has historically required large teams of trained safety specialists to manually review incoming adverse event reports, extract relevant clinical details and ensure timely regulatory reporting within strict compliance windows mandated by health authorities including the US Food and Drug Administration and European Medicines Agency. Graph AI's software applies machine-learning models to automate significant portions of this workflow, aiming to reduce processing time and improve consistency while maintaining the rigorous accuracy standards that patient-safety reporting demands given the direct regulatory and public health stakes involved.
