In 2020, 72% of Indian Americans voted for Biden. In 2026, the Carnegie Endowment found Democratic identification has fallen from 52% to 46%, independence has risen to nearly one-third, and support for third-party candidates has doubled. The community is still left-leaning. It is no longer reliably so.
The US issues roughly 140,000 employment-based green cards a year. No single country can receive more than 7% of that — about 9,800. India sends more H-1B workers to the US than any other country by a distance. The result: Indian professionals with priority dates from 2012 are receiving green cards in 2026.
